MOBILE INTERNET RADIO thru a WEBSITE -iPhone maybe?

Recently, while listening to online radio stations I have heard them promote the downloading and installing of various software, so listeners who have Windows Mobile phones and who subscribe to EVDO (mobile broadband) can listen on the go.

Huh, have you ever tried to install software onto your Windows Mobile phone? It's a pain, so in October 2006, I created a Mobile IE web app, so that I could tune into 100s of Internet Radio stations through Internet Explorer on my Treo 700w Windows Mobile phone.

Here are video demonstrations:

(You can find the code below to create your own site; personal use only please!)

Here I display my website in action while driving.

The Code

Select All

So, now that you have this code, what good is this code when each genre is not mapped to a streaming URL and states ENTER MEDIA URL HERE? Unfortunately, the URLs I am using are not public to distribute, but since it's a Windows Mobile phone figuring out what streaming format Mobile IE accepts wasnt too hard.

If anyone has an Iphone and wants to test the code above please do so and leave a comment! The code works in Windows Safari, so there might be a slim chance this code works on the iPhone. I do have my doubts as allowing streaming media to the iPhone would harm iPod sales.

I hope you find this article and the code above useful! The purpose of this article and its contents are to be an impetus to the up and coming mobile Internet Radio revolution. What I show and speak of here is only 10% of the concept of this project, as there is much to innovative in the mobile Internet Radio space!
